CANTALOUPES

We farm in one of the best growing areas of cantaloupes in the world. Our harvest season spans the months of July, August, September, and early October. Cantaloupe seeds are planted beginning in late March. We plant different fields weekly, and we are oftentimes still planting when harvest begins in the early fields in July. It takes anywhere from seventy to one hundred days from planting to harvest. Cantaloupes are picked, packed, and palletized for shipment, all on a moving platform right in the field. This allows for maximum freshness and minimizes handling. The boxes of fruit are then taken to a cold storage plant where they are chilled and loaded for shipment on refrigerated trucks.
